New: Updated Engagement Rates in Later

Hello everyone in the Later Community!

Jennifer here, from the Later team, here to share a recent update with Later's Engagement rate formula.

As you may have noticed, we recently updated the Instagram Engagement Rate formula within our Analytics feature. After doing our research, Later decided to update the formula accordingly as it will better measure the engagement rate of your Instagram posts. Post interactions are more than just Likes & Comments, so Saves were added. And Reach has shown to be a more accurate and preferable metric in comparison to Followers.

In the past, the engagement rate formula for Instagram feed [static] posts, including Multi-Photo (carousel) posts, was (Likes+Comments) ÷ Followers.

However, this has been updated and now this is the current formula: (Likes+Comments+Saves) ÷ Reach.

Furthermore, please note the following: 

• The engagement rate formula for Instagram Reels, including video feed posts, is:
  (Likes+Comments+Saves+Shares) ÷ Reach
• For your overall Instagram engagement rate, the formula is: (Likes+Comments+Saves+Shares) ÷ (Reach for Reels + Reach for static posts)

Team Tip: This combined engagement rate is only used within the Creator & Brand Collabs feature in Later (not within your Analytics).

The engagement rates are all wrong now. They're not even correct based on how you're saying that they would be calculated. Are they going to be fixed soon?

We'd like to learn more about the discrepancies you are seeing in your engagement rates, but it would be best to get you connected to our technical support team for assistance with this and so that they can help investigate where needed. Since you're on a paid plan, you can send our team an inquiry in-app on Desktop > in the Chat Bot > Request to speak with an Agent and fill out our Contact Us form. They'll follow up via email between 24-48 hours.
